impressions of movies that left some kind of a mark, my perspectives have a very personal character. hope others can also enjoy my peculiar descriptions.
There's a mistake the title of the post. It should be Tree of life :) It is not hard to see what Malick intended with this film: a warm, ambitious film symphony (a la Kubrick's 2001 but definitely less cold). At least with me, the movie worked perfectly*. It was impossible not to be carried away by the images, the music, the wamth, the happiness and the anger throughout the movie. A great deal of merit should go to cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (the best working cinematographer, in my opinion) and all of the actors, especially Jessica Chastain who is to me the perfect encarnation of grace in the movie.
*but I should say, after watching To the wonder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTAzcTZTY1g, I wish Malick would go back to the sheer simplicity of Badlands.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYqWIC4DM34 or Days of heaven http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzZ8phk8yYc
